The Slingsbys

Cynthia Fell kindly offered to take us inside the Village Hall to show us the Stage Curtains produced by the adults and children of Slingsby for the millenium

The curtains show the Castle and the Church and depict Sir William Wyvill slaying the Dragon that threatened the Village. The stream at the bottom is the Wath Beck where the children have “Duck Races” and on the left is the Mowbray Oak on on the right the Maypole. Sir William is buried in the Church

The ruins of the castle can be seen through the trees. Sadly this is about as close as you can get as the structure is unsafe
